Effective 8 November 2024, ANMAC (Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council) has launched GradReady, a new streamlined pathway for overseas-born nursing and midwifery graduates from Australian institutions. This allows graduates to apply for their Modified Skills Assessment immediately after completing their course requirements, without needing to wait for Ahpra registration.
Key Benefits of GradReady:
Early Application: Graduates can begin their skills assessment process straight after course completion, giving them a head start in their skilled migration journey.
Peace of Mind: By applying early, graduates can focus on their career progression with less stress.
Smooth Transition: Specifically tailored for new graduates, GradReady ensures a seamless migration process.
Eligibility: Graduates who have completed their Australian qualification requirements and are on the path to Ahpra registration can take advantage of this new initiative.
Encourage your eligible clients to explore this opportunity for an expedited migration process and to kickstart their careers in Australia’s healthcare sector.
2. New Assessment Body for Early Childhood Teachers
From 7 December 2024, the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) will take over skills assessment responsibilities for Early Childhood (Pre-Primary School) Teachers, previously conducted by AITSL (Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership).
ACECQA Skills Assessment Requirements:
Qualification:
An ACECQA nationally approved early childhood teaching (ECT) qualification (or equivalent).
For applicants without an approved qualification, a dual assessment of qualifications will be conducted under the National Quality Framework (NQF). Additional evidence may be required.
English Language Proficiency:Applicants must demonstrate proficiency via one of the following:
One year of full-time tertiary or higher education in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, the United Kingdom, or the United States.
IELTS Academic: Reading & Writing - 7.0; Speaking & Listening - 8.0 (test must be within the last three years).
ISLPR (Teacher-focused assessment): Level 4 in all four skills, conducted within the last three years.
On a case-by-case basis, ACECQA may accept a professional reference from an employer in an exempt country.
Key Difference from AITSL: Previously, AITSL required four years of tertiary education in an exempt country for an IELTS exemption. ACECQA now requires only one year of full-time education in those countries.
However, ACECQA reserves the right to request an IELTS test if there is uncertainty about the applicant’s English proficiency.
